About the 2008 Sister Cities Youth Art Showcase
The Maui County Sister Cities Foundation proudly announces that entries are being sought for the 2008 Young Artist Showcase.  This year’s theme is “A Reflection of Your Community.”

This year, one piece of Maui art will be chosen to be displayed at the 20th Sister Cities International Annual Young Artist Showcase in Kansas City, Missouri.  In previous years, art from some of Maui County’s 22 Sister Cities have also participated in the display of young talent. Last year’s entry from Sarrat, Philippines was selected as one of ten winning entries by Sister Cities International and has been part of a US Tour which will be displayed at the Maui County Business Resource Center during the month of April.

Who can submit art for the Youth Art Showcase?
· Each participating student artist must be between 13 – 18 years of age on April 30, 2008. 
· All entries must be the original design and artwork of the entrant.  
· Size: Only two-dimensional artwork, no larger than 24”X30” (including matting) is accepted. 
· Media: Watercolor, oils, pastels, pen and ink, charcoal, photography, two dimensional mixed media, as well as computer generated art, are all acceptable media. 

When is the Entry due?
Send or deliver entries by April 4 to the Maui County Business Resource Center
, Maui Mall, across from IHOP.  Entrees received after 4 pm on April 4 will not be judged. Each entry must be sent with a completed official entry form, which is being delivered to all schools and can be picked up the Maui County Business Resource Center at the Maui Mall. If you know someone who might be interested in participating, please let them know the entry form is available right here, online at http://mauicountysistercities.org/.

Award Presentation
Entries will be displayed at the Maui County Business Resource Center at the Maui Mall on April12 and the winning entry will be announced by press release on or about the same time. 

The winning Maui County Artist will receive $300. This will be presented at the Maui Mall at the Cultural and Arts Day Festival on April 12.  The winning piece of art will be sent to participate in the Sister Cities International Young Artist Showcase in Kansas City, Missouri.
