Sister Cities Young Artists Showcase 2007:
Ten Finalists and U.S. Tour!

Maui County Sister Cities Foundation Art contest winner 2007,

Maui County’s Sister City -  Manila, Philippines among 10 winners!

The Office of Economic Development and Maui County Sister Cities Foundation announced today that Maui’s entry “Our World, Our Home” by Jeane Renee Nubla from Manila, Philippines was selected as one of 10 winning pieces of art for the Washington, D.C. showcase on June 19, 2007. These ten winning art pieces will be sent out this August for a year long tour to be displayed at local exhibits conducted by several sister cities organizations across the U.S.!  The art will be displayed on Maui in April, 2008 as part of the “Culture & Arts Day” celebration.  The theme for the 2007 Young Artists Showcase: An Open and Accessible World For All!

For the last two years, Maui County has invited its 22 Sister Cities to participate in the Young Artist Showcase.  This year entries were received on Maui from Quezon and Manila, Philippines, Sanya County, China and Saipan.  These entries were submitted along with Maui artist Rosa Medina’s work to Washington D.C.  There were over 90 pieces of art displayed at the 2007 Sister Cities International Conference in Fort Lauderdale, July 18 – 21 this year.
