In November 2008 a delegation from Pingtung County visted Maui County. 

As per the official Pingtung County website, (http://www.pthg.gov.tw/english/), they describe themselves as "This county of passionate peoples located on the southernmost tip of Taiwan, enjoys a variety of natural resources: year-round mild sunshine, clear blue skies, a vast ocean, lush mountains and murmuring streams."

Part of their mission is: "The declared, rightful and justified expectations of Pingtung residents are to improve, enhance and actively contribute to a better Taiwan, to play an ever-important role in the global community, as well as promote local art and culture on an international stage. "

The 2008 delegates were:
